"Tierra del Fuego" south of Chile

Tierra del Fuego is a wonderfull place at South of Chile, is the last city in the country and It has an area of 29,484.7 km ² and has a population of 6,904 inhabitants. Its provincial capital is the city of Porvenir.

The origin of its name dates from 1520, when Hernando de Magallanes named it for the first time as the Tierra del Fuego or the smoke that fumes by highlighting its banks and were lit by the selk'nam (Ona). Carlos I, King of Spain, he changed the name to Tierra del Fuego, considering that the smoke had come from the fire.
